A major is your main area of study. It should relate to the career field you want to pursue.

Several majors within the College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CNAS) have track options, which help you focus your skills and knowledge on a specific area.

Biology major

With options in:

Do you want to become a veterinarian, dentist, doctor, pharmacist or similar health care professional? Your biggest step is medical or graduate school.

Want to become a science teacher? Try a science pathway

These pathway programs qualify you to teach science at the middle and high school levels in Missouri.

You’ll earn:

  • A bachelor’s degree (major) related to the science area you want to teach.
  • Plus, a graduate degree (master’s) in teaching.

Certificates in CNAS

Certificates are optional, concentrated programs. Certificates give you specialized skills, set you apart in the job market and take less time to complete than a degree.

You can add a certificate(s) to your major or pursue them on their own.

Minors in CNAS

A minor is your secondary area of study.  Some majors, but not all, require a minor.

By adding a minor, you can explore an area of professional or personal interest, such as geography, biology or math.
