MoLSAMP Scholars Cohort 2024
Welcome to MoLSAMP: Unlocking Opportunities in STEM
Take Part in the Movement: Raising the number of underrepresented minority (URM) students in STEM disciplines is the goal of the Missouri Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (MoLSAMP). Our goal is to increase enrollment and degree completion rates by 125% in the following five years. We're building a strong network of support for URM students by collaborating with two historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), significant research centers, a regional university, a selective liberal arts college, and a community college.

The Missouri Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, or MoLSAMP, is a cooperative effort that brings together eight public, one private, and one community college. Our goal is to substantially raise the proportion of underrepresented minority (URM) students in the state who earn undergraduate and graduate degrees in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and to support their continued education in graduate programs.
Our Objectives
- Boost Representation: Raise the proportion of URM graduates in STEM fields.
- Graduate Education: Create opportunities for students to go to graduate school.
- Encouragement: Establish a network of information and assistance among the institutions in our alliance.
Finance and Assistance
- • Original Grant: MoLSAMP received a five-year grant at the beginning of 2017 to start initiatives and programs that will have a significant impact on URM students.
- • Second Grant Cycle: We were granted financing for an extra five years in 2023, which enabled us to increase our work and improve student support.
Important Plans and Projects
- Academic Support and Advising: Resources specifically designed to assist students in navigating their academic paths.
- • Research and Internship Opportunities: Collaborations offering practical experience in STEM domains.
- • Mentorship Programs: Links to professionals and academics for advice and assistance.
For first- and second-year students, Summer Bridge Programs offer transitional assistance to facilitate their transition to college life. - • Activities for Career Development: Gatherings for conferences and networking that introduce students to business executives.
