Become an LSAMP Undergraduate Research Scholar today!

Undergraduate research is mentored, self-directed work that enables you to explore an area of interest in your discipline and communicate your findings with others. Your research will involve inquiry, design, investigation, research, data analysis, writing, and presenting your results. LSAMP scholars will have an opportunity to present their research at both local and national conferences and receive a stipend for their research presentations or participation.

Students will be expected to commit to an average of 10 hours of research work per week during the Spring or Fall Semester; 20 hours/week during the summer semester.

Requirements:

  1. US citizen or permanent resident and a member of one of these URM groups:
    1. American-Indian
    2. Alaskan-Native
    3. African-American
    4. Hispanic/Latino
    5. Native-Hawaiian
    6. Other Pacific Islander (Guam, Samoa, and Papua New Guinea)
    7. Multi-racial comprising one of these categories
  2. Majoring in a STEM field (Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, GGP)
  3. Have a GPA of at least 3.0.

The students will receive a stipend of $2000 for the semester (4 payments of $500) and will be required to submit an end of semester report as well as present their work at the CNAS Undergraduate research symposium in April.
